The Chevrons

Story

The Chevrons are a six piece soul blues band who rehearse in Bishops Stortford but play awesome soul tracks that you didn’t know you knew… at gigs you’ll be talking about for a long time.

They originally formed in 2014, the line up with Kev singing and on guitar, Rachel on Vocals, Nik on drums and vocals, Graham on bass. Last but not least the horn section – Dawn on Tenor and Alto Sax and also vocals and Chris on Trumpet.  Kev was probably born holding a guitar has never stopped playing, though he used to do the rock thing(and still does between songs!). Personally we think he suits soul better, even if he does have to wear a suit and cover those tattoo sleeves. Nik and Graham used to be in bands in their previous lives .

Dawn joined on the saxophone in January 2015 kind of by accident after a lot of haranguing by Kev (a mutual friend had mentioned she played….or used to 15 years ago, “mind the gap #2”). We did wonder at one point whether the band should be renamed to something like ‘It’s been 15 yrs’….but ‘The Chevrons’ works.

Rachel is famed for her work in another local band and is also a Yoga teacher!

The final piece of the puzzle was Chris who joined in 2018 and has been catching up ever since.

Expect songs from James Brown, The Blues Brothers, Spencer Davis, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding,  Sam & Dave, Ike and Tina Turner,  Ray Charles, Little Richard, Rolling Stones (…the list goes on but we don’t want to make your head explode) played loud, proud and the way they should be.
